Let’s be frank: Frank Body skin care review

I wrote a review on Frank Body coffee scrub maybe five years ago, back then that was pretty much their only product. Nowadays they have everything from the body scrubs in coconut and mint (and I just looked up on the website and kid you not there’s a shimmer body scrub…) to hair, lip and face products.

Luckily for you, I bought pretty much their whole range… except from the hair care range, just because I wasn’t feeling it (I’m lying…my bank balance wasn’t feeling it and I have a lot more problems with my skin rather than my hair so #Priorities).

I’ve listed below all the products that I’m going to be reviewing, so you’re familiar with what I’m going to be discussing.

  • Body: Original body scrub, Coconut body scrub, Whipped body scrub.
  • Lips: Lip scrub, Lip balm.
  • Face: Face cleanser, Moisturiser, Face scrub, Make-up remover oil, Glow face mask, anti-drama face mask.

I’ve never seen the word scrub so many times in one place…

In terms of costs, I would put Frank Body products in a mid-range price bracket. If you have a full time job, you’re probably going to think paying £60 for an entire skin care range is reasonable. But if you’re still at school or in uni, then these might have to be a bit of an investment.

If you’re into natural products, I got you covered people. The products are all vegan friendly (some products do contain nuts, just for allergens sake), and only ‘tested on babes’, so you don’t need to worry about animal testing.

They use coffee based products because there are a LOT of benefits that come from it: “Caffeine helps to promote healthy, clear skin, whilst maintaining its PH balance.”

What I’m getting at is that if you have acne prone skin, dry skin, sensitive skin, or even a combination of them all, these products might be just what you’re looking for.

Let’s dive in because I hate nothing more than when a blog post has a load of intro about everything that legit nobody cares about.

FACE SCRUB

First I’ll talk about the body scrubs, like I say that’s what I’ve used the most. If you’re interested in buying from Frank Body, you can start off by buying the body scrub, which is £12.95.

However, there’s a few different kits you can get. I bought The Shower Scrubs Kit which has the Original Body Scrub, the Coconut Body Scrub and the Espress-O Scrub, aswell. I think if you want to try a couple of different things this is a pretty all-rounder, because you’re getting different scents and textures, so you can figure out what’s best for you.

You get your Original Scrub, which smells of coffee and oranges because they use orange oil for healing scars and acne. I usually use the scrub three times a week, ALL over me, you can use it for your face and your sexy, sexy bod.

If like myself the chocolate biscuits got ya during lockdown, then you might have gotten some stretch marks, I tried not to let it bother me, but I had seen on Frank Body’s Instagram account, a before and after of someone’s stretch marks, and I’ve tried it out on the ones on my tummy.

DAMN, its worked super well for me and my confidence. In maybe, two weeks, its cleared them up really well. they’re still there but I feel a lot better in myself, and they’ve faded. #beachbodyready (#ALLbodiesarebeachbodies).

I also love using the scrub after shaving, you know when you’re having that shower, shaving head-to-toe, shampoo and conditioner, put a cheeky face mask on and to finish, scrubbing your legs down with coffee scrub, is like okay wow, here we go.

But I also use it on my arms and elbows, my boobs, and underboob, and my thighs just to keep it all smooth. I like using for where I’m most sweaty, just to get rid of all the nastiness and leave myself feeling fresh.

If you like coffee, having your whole bathroom smell of good damn coffee, who wouldn’t want that?

The only thing of course is that it’s a loose scrub so it can make a mess, hence why the espresso scrub is ‘whipped for your convenience’. This one I find particularly handy in the mornings because much less mess and is really effective as a face scrub. This one would work really well for sensitive skin, because you’ve got all the same ingredients for the goodness you want out of the scrub, without the harshness of the loose scrub. You can buy it just itself but for the size you get versus the money you’re paying for it, you’re better buying it when it’s part of a kit.

Next up ladies and gentlemen, please welcome to the stage, the Lip Scrub and Balm. The Lip Scrub is like being in an elite coffee shop and there’s just cream surrounding your nostrils and it just brings me so much joy and happiness. Oh and it’s a really good lip scrub.

What can I even say about a lip scrub?

It leaves my lips luscious and moisturised, using the balm afterwards, continues the softness and makes me feel very on top of life and very grown up.

Buying the kit with both products is much better value for money, the lip scrub has LOADS of product, whereas the lip balm isn’t going to last you a long time, so maybe have a think about how realistic it is for you to have a lip balm that will only last one or two months, compared to the lip scrub lasting around six.

LIP SCRUB & BALM

Finally the skincare and face stuff. As much as I’ve said you can use the body scrub on your face, these products are obviously made in mind for your face. The face cleanser contains charcoal which from the amount you see that in every skin care range it’s good for your face. And I don’t know why but this reminds of this weird art teacher we had in Primary School, who was a hippy, wore a leather waistcoat and instead of a pencil sharper just sharpened pencils with a knife. However, it’s still a really great product.

I do suffer from acne-prone skin, since going into my twenties its not as bad, as I have been on the pill to improve it. But my skin feels smoother and especially with wearing a mask (Covid-19 related) all day, using the face scrub, makes my face feel so much better.

Of course, I’ve not been wearing much make-up, but I’ve had a few outings and the make-up remover literally melts your make-up off your face. The cleanser (Which I admittedly don’t use as much as I should but I’m trying hard, remember I’m not a real grown-up), is really refreshing and makes my face so soft and really helps keep my acne away.

Similarly, the face masks also leave me more glowing and my boyfriend also really likes the glow face mask. I think that sells it enough right? But the glow mask only needs five minutes, and is super hydrating. The anti-drama mask you only need 15 minutes, and focuses on helping to prevent acne. I hate really heavy masks that take ages but this sort of thing, you can literally do an evening after your shower, I normally just have a quick clean of the bathroom whist doing this.

The face scrub, is suppose to be used 2-3 times a week, because it can really effect your natural oils since it’s a scrub and exfoliate. At the end of the day, your face knows how to look after itself and you need to let them do its job, from time to time.

I don’t recommend using it anymore than what I’ve said, because firstly its a screw top therefore making life way more difficult than it needs to be. And secondly, it’s like not a bad smell at all but in comparison to the scrubs it doesn’t have that coffee scent that I love about all the other products. Obviously these are little things but are still part of the brand as a whole.

SKIN CARE & BODY SCRUB

The face products come in two different kits, the Pore-ifics Kit that you get the face scrub, face cleanser and moisturiser (£34.95). And the one I bought was the Mega Complexion Crew Kit, which has all of the above plus the make-up remover oil, the glow mask and also the no-drama face mask (£59.95). Obviously both are pretty pricey, but when each product is between £12-£15, you’re saving a lot of money, and like lets be frank, that’s what you wanna do in these ‘unprecedented’ times (lol).

As a brand I love frank body. Their whole mannerism is really chilled, friendly and real. So initially I ordered the body scrubs and lip kit. I then decided to *drunkenly* order the complexion kit to my old address… So I emailed them because it ended up getting sent back and then it had been three weeks and still nothing. They were so helpful and like hey babes sorry for the delay, and here is a discount code. They were so polite and understanding, of course I didn’t tell them that I sent it to the wrong address because I had ordered it after a drunk zoom call, but at the same time, I’m sure they would have loved that story.

Now lets all cross our fingers that my next pay check will stretch to the hair mask and the new vitamin face mask.
