Tucked away on Belmont Street, just two minutes away from Union Street lies Books and Beans, “an independent coffee shop” with great food (and coffee) and even better service.
I came across this the other day just because I wasn’t in the mood for some seemingly glorious food chain that when you eat it isn’t actually that good.
One thing that initially stood out to me was their extensive Fairtrade menu. All their hot drink are made from Fairtrade coffee, tea and hot chocolate. As well as the takeaway menus and buffets available to order.
A unique Scottish feel is added with quirks such as their ‘affa funcy coffee’ of the week. Scottish ingredients and décor all make you feel at home.
So, the beans are covered but the books well. The shop also offers a wide variety of second-hand books on the second floor. For every reading need, you will find something that tickles ‘yer’ fancy.
Oh, and one last thing. There’s student discount.
Winner, winner, chicken dinner!
